Col. Wil Esplin served 26 years in the US Army and 2 tours in Vietnam, one with the 1st Infantry Division and the other as an advisor to the Vietnamese government and military, in the Central Highlands. The last tour involved the battle for Kontum. Wil is dead but left a tape recording, pictures and a report by a Vietnamese General. He saved from his tour with the First Division, yearbooks, a battle report on Operation Cedar Falls, a pamphlet introducing new arrived to Vietnam, 2 Sentinel (newsletter of the Society of the First Division) news articles, one on the preparation and arrival of the division, the other on the divisions tour in Vietnam from 1965 to 1970. I am still finding relevant material while sifting and organizing numerous boxes he left to his daughter Holli Joyce.
